This position is for a full-time registered nurse specializing in mother and baby care, providing comprehensive assessment and care to postpartum mothers and their newborns in a hospital setting. The role involves coordinating patient care, maintaining patient confidentiality, and working 12-hour night shifts with various financial incentives and benefits. The unit focuses on stable mothers and newborns, managing a range of pregnancy and postpartum conditions with a specialized healthcare team.

The Mother-Baby Unit is a 50-bed unit, all privates located on the 5th floor of Mercy Hospital. The Mother-Baby unit serves mothers and their stable newborns, late preterm to term using a specially trained health-care team, as well as stable antepartum patients needing short to long term hospitalization. The major admitting diagnosis’ include postpartum mothers experiencing vaginal deliveries and postoperative cesarean sections and their newborns, as well as pregnancy diagnoses’ such as PIH, PROM, Gestational diabetes, and Placenta Previa. The service is provided 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The Mother-Baby Unit is a specialized area of expertise that require astute assessment skills, development of critical thinking while understanding the implications of growth and development on physiologic and patho-physiologic process. All staff work 12-hour shifts, 0630 to 1900 and 1830 to 0700, which includes alternating weekend shifts and holiday shifts.
