Job Description

Overview Data Center Technician L2 role at NTT Global Data Centers. Responsibilities Develops creative approaches to minimize operational costs, improve efficiency, and implement new strategies. Mechanical responsibilities include chilled water systems and components, HVAC systems (roof top units, CRAC/CRAH units), and humidification systems. Electrical responsibilities cover electrical/critical power distribution from the Utility/Generator main switchgear through the UPS systems to the customer load. Fire Life Safety responsibilities include wet sprinkler systems and pre-action sprinkler systems with their associated detection devices. Test performance of electromechanical assemblies and electronic voltmeters. Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, or technical orders to determine methods and sequences of processes. Inspect parts for surface defects; install electrical or electronic parts and hardware using hand tools; align, fit, or assemble component parts with hand or power tools. Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems across Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Life Safety, and Building Monitoring and Control domains. Analyze systems to ensure best practices for internal and external customers; provide feedback to DCO Engineering on standards and processes. Coordinate with contractors and consultants to review quality assurance for system expansions, corrections, and upgrades. Collaborate with the CF Ops Lead Technician to track and complete a preventive and predictive maintenance program. Ensure the data center operates at maximum operational efficiency; analyze operating conditions, recommend new technologies, and pursue cost reductions. Manage systems to avoid unplanned customer-impacting events; determine maintenance requirements for mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety systems. Perform other duties as assigned; maintain regular, predictable attendance. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety systems in a data center environment (electrical distribution, transformers, PLCs, generators, switchgear, UPS, PDUs, chilled water systems, CRAC/CRAHs, sprinkler systems). Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and related building codes for fire life safety; familiarity with industrial safety practices (lockout/tagout, arc flash, OSHA). Experience with data trending/tracking and PC-based critical monitoring systems. Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting large commercial/industrial systems (e.g., Chilled Water Systems, Large Centrifugal Chillers, Cooling Towers, Heat Exchangers, Water Treatment, VFDs, Pumps, HVAC equipment, CRAC/CRAHs, Humidification, Water Heaters, Water/Air filters, BMS/PLC controls, Emergency Standby Diesel Generators, Fuel/Oil systems, electrical generation and distribution, UPS, pre-action systems). Excellent written and verbal communication; proficient with MS Office Suite; ability to work with customers and internal staff; coordinate with contractors. Strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, and team collaboration abilities; quick learner; capable of after-hours issue resolution. Ability to operate hand and power tools, electrical tools (multimeter, infrared camera), and a forklift; comfortable in a high-stress, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. Willingness to work on a shift that may include nights, holidays, and some weekends. Education & Experience Associate of Science in Technology or equivalent education/experience; minimum 3 years in a mechanical/electrical role within critical facilities (data center, hospital, semiconductor, or power plant). CPR/First Aid and NFPA70E certification; OSHA-certified forklift operator or able to obtain after hire; High School Diploma or GED. Physical Requirements Primarily walking, standing, and bending with some sitting; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; good manual dexterity; close visual work on a computer terminal; climb ladders and work on raised platforms. Work Conditions Data center environment with varying temperatures and loud noises; on-site work with no telecommuting; potential extensive daily workstation use. Special Requirements Willingness to be part of after-hours notification and escalation protocol; must wear leather close-toed shoes with a solid rubber sole. This position requires on-site work at a data center facility and may involve use of a personal mobile device. A monthly stipend may be provided to cover related expenses. Compensation & Benefits NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Hourly base salary ranges from $33.90 to $50.90 and is eligible for overtime; annual bonus opportunities; paid time off, medical/dental/vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k), and other benefits.
